One of my professional passions is helping grow the PBSP community throughout Southern California.
As the San Diego coordinator for PBSP trainings, I organize several experiential trainings each year, bringing internationally recognized PBSP trainers to San Diego for clinicians interested in learning this unique body-oriented psychotherapy.
These trainings are designed for therapists who want to deepen their understanding of trauma, attachment, and experiential therapy while learning directly through experience.
Whether you’re simply curious about PBSP or considering certification, you’ll find a welcoming community of therapists committed to thoughtful, relational, and body-based clinical work.
*Some advanced trainings may have professional prerequisites.

Learning a new therapeutic model is about more than mastering techniques.
It involves developing a different way of seeing, listening, and responding.
As a Certified PBSP Therapist and PBSP Supervisor-in-Training, I provide supervision for therapists participating in the PBSP certification process. I also offer individual and group consultation for therapists who are integrating PBSP into their clinical work or pursuing certification.
Consultation offers a place to slow down, think together, and continue developing your clinical voice as a PBSP therapist. Whether we’re discussing a structure, exploring a therapeutic impasse, or reflecting on your own experience in the room, my hope is to provide a collaborative space where therapists can deepen their understanding of PBSP and grow in confidence as therapists.
Important: PBSP certification supervision supports the PBSP certification process only. It is not clinical supervision for California licensure and does not satisfy supervision requirements established by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), CAMFT, or AAMFT.
My work with Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor (PBSP) spans nearly two decades, beginning with more than ten years of personal experiential work before entering formal therapist training in 2018. I became a Certified PBSP Therapist in 2021 after completing the model’s rigorous competency-based certification process, which includes advanced training, extensive personal work, supervised consultation, and demonstrated clinical proficiency. At the time of writing, I am the only Certified PBSP Therapist on the U.S. West Coast. Since 2020, I have coordinated PBSP trainings in San Diego, bringing internationally recognized trainers to Southern California. Since 2024, I have served as a PBSP Supervisor-in-Training, providing consultation, leading small-group practice, and supporting therapists as they develop confidence and competency in the model.
Maya Heffernan is an exceptional psychotherapist. I say this not as her client, but as her teacher, supervisor, and now colleague. One quality I admire most is her openness to learning. Maya approaches every person with genuine curiosity, without assumptions, creating space for deep understanding and authentic connection. I’ve seen this quality consistently in her clinical work. She has a remarkable ability to meet people where they are, and I believe anyone who works with Maya will feel deeply understood and grateful to have her as their therapist.

PBSP offers therapists a powerful framework for understanding how developmental experiences become organized within the body and nervous system.
Rather than focusing only on insight, the model creates carefully guided therapeutic experiences that allow clients to experience the safety, support, protection, nurturance, and belonging that may have been missing earlier in life.
For many clinicians, learning PBSP transforms not only their clinical work, but also the way they understand human development, attachment, and healing itself.
